Students can see that it is beneficial to look at problems from more than one angle (finding a bigger studio rather than turning her away or having her continue to keep hitting her head on the ceiling). Brontorina is a great fictional role model because she keeps reaching for her dreams and keeps trying to be a dancer despite not having the right shoes or body type (not to mention the mockery). Hopefully, this story would open their eyes to the fact that it is not okay to make fun of others. They can see that even though all the students looked different from each other, they still had similar interest in dance. Also, not everyone that looks different on the outside is much different on the inside. This book is a great tool in the classroom because it can help students see that everyone has their differences. She also had to decide how to make it work with such a large creature (finding a bigger studio). Her dance teacher, Madame Lucille also had to decide if Brontorina could stay to dance at her studio due to her large size. I think she also had to decide whether or not she should participate in dance with the constant taunting going on around her. She had to decide whether she wanted to even do dance or not. First off, Brontorina had some decisions to make. I feel that there were a lot of decision making opportunities in this book.
